Our anti-social media attitude not withstanding - we have decided to launch a website in order to promote and share some of the music we are currently working on! Before we record an E.P. we are going to perform some of this material at Bedern Hall, May 29, in York. We are very excited about some of the material that is getting underway, and we are now trying to organise the logistics of how and where to record the menagerie of instruments in the repetoire. The challenge is to re-create a sound that sustains the texture and timbres of the instruments and their unique voicings. Izzy is in the process of writing some beautiful and interesting pieces for the hammered dulcimer, the sound falls somewhere between an Eastern European cimbalom and prepared piano a la John Cage. And the process of recording/amplifying the instrument is challenging to say the least - any attempt to record the hammer dulcimer so far sounds like cats on a tin roof!
